Chromium refractory bricks contain higher Cr2O3 content (above 30%), while refractory bricks with less MgO content (10~30%) are chromium refractory bricks.

Its main characteristic is that it is a neutral refractory material. Because Cr2O3 is a neutral oxide, it has good resistance to alkaline slag and acid slag. Chrome bricks are sometimes used for masonry at the junction of acid refractory bricks and alkaline refractory bricks to prevent reaction between acid refractory bricks and alkaline refractory bricks at high temperatures.
