The advantage of this kind of inductor is that it can be directly connected to the intermediate frequency power supply without the need to reduce the voltage through a quenching transformer. Tractor Φ22mm x 430mm track pin was once produced with this kind of inductor. The driven gear (induction hardening after carburizing) of the tractor with a power supply of 8kHz and 100kW was also heated by a single-layer multi-turn inductor.
