Introduction to the selection of crucible for experimental electric furnace

The laboratory electric furnace can use high-purity corundum crucibles, quartz crucibles, and quartz-containing zirconium crucibles, and different crucibles will be selected according to different materials and different temperatures.

1. Corundum crucible

The corundum crucible is composed of porous fused alumina, which is strong and resistant to melting. It is suitable for melting samples with some weak alkaline substances such as anhydrous sodium carbonate as flux, but not suitable for strong alkaline substances such as sodium peroxide and acidic substances as flux. 2. Quartz crucible

Quartz crucible can be used below 1650 degrees, divided into transparent and opaque. The semi-transparent quartz crucible made by the electric arc method is used to draw large-diameter silicon, which is an indispensable basic material for the development of large-scale integrated circuits. Today, developed countries in the semiconductor industry in the world have used this crucible to replace the small transparent quartz crucible.
