What is a lightweight thermal insulation brick and what is its use?

What is a lightweight thermal insulation brick? As the name suggests, relatively light bricks with thermal insulation function are mainly used for heat preservation and heat insulation, saving energy and reducing heat energy waste.

1. Lightweight clay bricks

This product is a lightweight refractory product, with an AL2O3 content of 30%-46%, which is a heat-preservation refractory brick. The main raw materials are clay clinker or light clay clinker and plastic clay produced by the flammable method. The raw materials are mixed with water to make plastic mud or mud, which is extruded or casted and dried in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1250°C-1350°C.

2. Lightweight high alumina bricks

Also known as high-alumina thermal insulation brick, it is a light refractory material with an alumina content of more than 48%, mainly composed of mullite and glass or corundum. The bulk density is 0.4~1.359/cm3. The porosity is 66%~73%, and the compressive strength is 1~8MPa. Good thermal shock resistance;

Lightweight high-alumina bricks generally use high-alumina bauxite clinker, add a small amount of clay, and then use the air method or foam method to cast in the form of slurry after being ground, and then fire at 1300~1500℃. Industrial alumina can sometimes be used to replace part of bauxite clinker.

It is suitable for the inner lining and heat insulation layer of the kiln, as well as the parts that are not corroded and scoured by strong high-temperature molten materials. When in direct contact with the flame, the surface contact temperature should not exceed 1350°C.

3. Mullite bricks, also known as lightweight mullite bricks or mullite thermal insulation bricks, are made of high-alumina bauxite clinker as the main raw material, using foam or chemical methods to form a porous structure, and the ingredients are mixed with water It is a heat-insulating brick made of plastic clay or mud, which is extruded and fired at a high temperature.

The standard size of mullite poly light brick is 230*114*65mm, usually the bulk density is 0.6-1.2g/cm3, and the use temperature is 1300-1550 degrees. The shape and size can be customized according to customer requirements. According to the operating temperature, JM-23, JM-26, JM-28 can be divided into three types. The product can directly contact the flame, and has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, light weight, low thermal conductivity, and significant energy saving effect.
