What electric furnaces are used in foundries?
(1) Cupola. It can be used to melt cast iron, including gray cast iron, white cast iron, vermicular graphite cast iron and ductile iron, etc.
(2) Induction melting furnace. It can be used to melt gray cast iron, white cast iron, vermicular graphite cast iron, ductile iron, copper alloy, cast steel, etc.
(3) Electric arc furnace. Can be used to melt cast steel
(4) Oil furnace. Can be used to melt non-ferrous alloys.
(5) Resistance furnace. Can be used to melt aluminum alloy.
The above are only common furnaces used for metal melting, and the furnaces used for melting metal also have special melting equipment. There are other furnaces that are not used for melting metals, as described below.
(6) Heat treatment furnace. Can be used for heat treatment of castings
(7) Drying furnace. It can be used for drying sand cores and molds.
(8) Baking furnace. It can be used for the firing of investment casting mold shells.
I work in a precision foundry, and now I use a baking furnace (burning shell). The melting furnace melts metal materials (ie raw materials, defective products, cut risers, connectors, etc.)
