Breathable brick core

Breathable brick cores are an important part of refining refractory materials. In most refining equipment outside the furnace, inert gas (such as argon) is blown into ventilated bricks for the purpose of strengthening the stirring of the molten pool to make the temperature and composition uniform. In the process of LF, VD, CAS-OB, etc., if there is no normal operation of the bottom-blown air-permeable brick core, the above process cannot be carried out. Therefore, the role of the air-permeable brick core in the refining outside the furnace is very important. .

Strictly speaking, the air-permeable brick is composed of air-permeable brick core and the seat brick for installing the air-permeable brick core. The ventilating brick core is a cone, the seat brick is a rectangular brick with holes, and the ventilating brick core is installed inside the ventilating seat brick.

After years of development, there are currently three common types of ventilated brick cores for refining outside the furnace, namely, diffuse, straight-through directional, and gap vented bricks.

1, diffuse type. In actual production, by adding carbon-containing compounds to the mixture, the advantage is that it burns at low temperatures without residue, so this advantage can be used to obtain a suitable porosity. Diffusion-type ventilating brick cores are only used in refining ladle. Conical dispersive-type ventilating brick cores are more commonly used. The disadvantages are low strength and low service life. It needs to be replaced several times during a service period. Therefore, a set of bricks should be added between the ventilating brick core and the seat bricks.

2. Straight-through directional type. The air passage of the straight-through directional ventilation brick is designed as a straight-through hole or a straight-through slit type, and its shape is generally conical or rectangular. Since the through-hole type ventilation bricks used in ladle are more complicated to make and the pore ventilation rate is small, the through-slot type ventilation bricks replace the through-hole ventilation bricks.

3. Slit type. This kind of breathable brick core is the most commonly adopted structural form of breathable bricks. Reasonable slits can be designed according to the on-site use conditions including steel type, technology, ladle capacity, temperature, etc., so that the blow-through effect of the breathable brick is best and the service life is increased. , Stable safety performance. The gas channel of the slit-type air-permeable brick core is a strip-shaped slit. The number and length of the slit have a large adjustment range, so the air permeability is relatively reliable. However, due to the large number of slits, the brick core has low strength and is easy to break and corrode. , So the life span is short.
