The difference between intermediate frequency furnace steelmaking and electric arc furnace steelmaking:

The difference between intermediate frequency furnace steelmaking and electric arc furnace steelmaking:

1. The intermediate frequency furnace cannot make slag, so harmful elements such as P and S cannot be removed, while the electric arc furnace can;

2. The intermediate frequency furnace cannot blow oxygen to reduce carbon, so the C element cannot be adjusted downwards, only carbon can be increased, while the electric arc furnace can;

3. Intermediate frequency furnace cannot blow oxygen to decarburize. Steel contains high gas and inclusions such as H element. Steel has hydrogen embrittlement characteristics, high strength, low elongation, and unqualified plasticity, while electric arc furnaces are the opposite.

4. Even for smelting high carbon steel, alloy tool steel or castings, due to the above process defects, the quality of steel is still not as good as electric furnace steel, but sometimes it can be used if the requirements are not high.

5. If the intermediate frequency furnace is equipped with reasonable refining facilities, it can also produce high-quality steel, even surpassing electric arc furnace steelmaking. The specific process can be: intermediate frequency furnace + VOD + LF process can produce very good steel.
