heat treatment carburizing

heat treatment carburizing

1. Definition: In order to increase the carbon content of the surface layer of the workpiece and form a certain carbon content gradient in it, the low carbon steel is heated and kept warm in the carburizing medium in the carburizing furnace, so that carbon atoms penetrate into the surface of the workpiece, and then quenching is carried out. chemical heat treatment process.

2. Purpose: to increase the carbon content of the surface layer of low carbon steel to 0.85-1.10%, and then quench and temper at low temperature to eliminate stress and stabilize the structure, so that the surface layer of the steel has high hardness (HRc56-62) , increase wear resistance and fatigue strength. The heart still maintains its original plasticity and toughness.

3. Application: Carburizing is generally used for steels with low carbon content such as 15Cr and 20Cr. The depth of the carburizing layer is different according to the requirements of the parts, generally 0.2 to 2 mm.

The material and carburizing layer depth can be selected according to the workpiece size and core strength requirements during design.

The choice of carburized layer depth should be designed according to actual needs to save costs.

The increase of the layer depth means the extension of the carburizing time, and the gear depth is generally designed according to the empirical formula.
